PHEAA Financial Aid Workshops (PA Higher Education Assistance Agency)
The month of May begins a new series of PHEAA one-hour webinars on topics associated with affording higher education. The webinars are conducted on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Some are “Lunch and Learns” at noon, and some are evening events (6:30 PM), since we are trying to accommodate various schedules. These are interactive webinars where questions are welcome.
Please share this information with anyone you think may benefit. Also, if you would like to offer any of our webinars directly to your students, families, or staff, I’d be happy to coordinate.
Webinar #1: Two Step Approach to Post Secondary Financial Bliss
Join financial aid experts Linda Pacewicz and Dan Wray of the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) for this fun and informative webinar. Learn how to use online tools to plan for financial success as you seek a postsecondary education. This webinar also emphasizes best practices (such as seeking grants and scholarships first) covers the primary methods of keeping school related debt to a minimum, reminds families about additional resources (such as payment plans) and touches on private/ alternative loans as a last resort.

Webinar #2: Deep Dive Into Credit Related to Education Funding
For most families, borrowing for education is part of the equation and can be confusing as families look for the best options to fit their needs. Join Dan Wray and Linda Pacewicz of Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) for a one-hour webinar to increase your financial literacy and knowledge on the process of credit and how to maintain or improve ratings an comparison points to help make informed and affordable education borrowing decisions.

My name is Steven Guo from the Jewish Healthcare Foundation (JHF) in Pittsburgh. This summer, we are planning to hold a unique Young Health Innovators Fellowship for high school students as part of our health care workforce development programming.
This fellowship is poised to provide students with a collaborative and creative environment where participants will explore various careers in healthcare, gain entrepreneurial and solution-oriented thinking skills, engage with young professional mentors to learn about diverse careers in health, learn about the role of technology and innovation in rethinking health care, and collaborate with peers to design innovative solutions. The program is planned to be virtual and will run for eight weeks – starting Thursday, June 17th, and concluding on Thursday, August 5th. Additionally, the fellowship is at no cost to students.
Students interested in physical and mental health, STEM/STEAM, technology and innovation, and those looking to boost their resume will also be able to highlight their participation in the fellowship with a certificate of completion.
